Description

The Filter Division of ETS-Lindgren also provides custom panels and cases. For example, the individual LRX and Twin LRX series filters may be provided in custom sized cases to adapt to shielding computer racks. Electrical outlets may also be provided as an option on these cases. In other applications, panels may be custom sized to meet unique installation requirements. For custom cases and panels, UL Listing does not apply.

Common Characteristics of General Purpose UL Listed LRX Power Line Filters

The Filter Division of ETS-Lindgren has a wide selection of general requirement and special application UL Listed power line filters rated from 5 to 400 amperes, and we are continually adding UL Listed filters for other requirements. All Power Line Filters are designed and manufactured to UL-1283. The UL record covering these filters is located in Follow-Up Services Inspection Procedure File E116566.
The general purpose series of filters is the LRX model which is designed for 277 volt line-to-ground, 480 volt line-to-line, 0-60 Hz applications. These may also be used for lower voltage ratings, such as 120/208 volts, with no adverse effect. Note that LRX filters are also available as an option for 120/208 VAC, 400 Hz applications; however, these 400 Hz filters are not UL Listed and the case dimensions increase for filters rated over 30A. (UL Listing is not applicable to 400 Hz Power Line filter design.)

Multiple LRX Line Filters in Panels - LPRX and LFPRX Series (UL Listed)

The LRX series filters are available in NEMA type panels for wall-mounted and floor-standing installations. These panels incorporate an RFI tight compartment (security well) that meets the highest performance criteria: a full 100 dB shielding effectiveness form 14 KHz to 10 GHz. Clean filtered power exits into the security well.

Power Factor Correction Inductors - LPC-3100 Series for use with 400Hz Power Line Filters

The Power Factor Correction Inductors can be used with any manufacturer's 400 Hz power line filters, provided they are cross-referenced and matched by our engineering staff. They are conservatively designed for high reliability and use low loss magnetic cores driven at very moderate flux densities. Long-life expectancy is obtained by using materials rated to withstand a minimum of 130 degree Celsius and a dielectric voltage of 2250 volts DC for one minute.
Modern power line filters, such as the ETS-Lindgren series and others, usually have a high capacitance to case (ground/neutral). The capacitive reactance on a 400 Hz power application can result in some serious side effects.
The most common side effect is that these filters will draw more line current than the filter load, or, in other cases, a high percentage of the filter's load. In other applications, large capacitance values result in a high leading power factor that appears on the system power lines as a voltage increase at light filter loads.
Our 400 Hz Power Factor Correction Inductors can help reduce many of the effects of a filter's inherent capacitive reactance. This will help to lower the line power losses and the internal losses of the 400 Hz power source. Depending on the application, the level of inductive reactance required may vary. Please contact a ETS-Lindgren filter application engineer for technical support for your 400 Hz power line filter requirement.

Insertion Loss

LRX series filters meet or exceed 100 dB insertion loss from 14 kHz to 18 GHz as measured per MIL-STD-220A full load condition utilizing extended range buffer networks.

Optional Mounting Hardware

LRX series, LRX Twin series, LPRX Wall Panel and LFPRX Floor Panel series filters may be supplied with optional mounting hardware. The penetration hardware includes a threaded conduit hub (of standard pipe thread), conduit nut, flat washer, and EMI/RFI gasket material. The penetration hardware is located on the rear output side of the filter assembly. It penetrates the RFI tight compartment (security well) of the filter which meets the highest performance criteria, a full 100 dB shielding effectiveness at 14 kHz to 18 GHz. This allows for direct installation through a shielded wall or secure area.

Maximum System Voltage and Frequency Rating for LRX Series Filters

Maximum System Voltage: 277V to GND/480 V Line-to-line 0-60 Hz, 600VDC
Optional (Case Dimensions May Increase): 125V to GHD/208 V Line-to-line 400 Hz, 400VDC
For other voltage and frequency ratings, contact the Application Engineering Department. Add -4 to part number when requesting 400Hz system voltage.
